Native Wild Rice

Real wild rice, not the paddy-grown rice from California sold as “wild rice,” is truly wild and hand-harvested. It grows in Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and parts of Canada and is still gathered in places by Native Americans. Unlike the shiny black grains of the cultivated varieties, the grains of true wild rice are gray and brownish, and they cook in far less time.
